Free Build Wars Discussion: 21

    1. As a limited user your account is restricted from adding friends. However, you can still accept friend invites from other non-limited users. For example, if a friend is already on Steam and has spent $5 USD or more from the Steam store, they will be able to add you as a friend from your Steam Community profile.

      1. I think you don’t understand, my account is not restricted in any way, I spent more than 5$, I can trade, I added a lot of friends and I can even trade with others. The problem is that it won’t let me complete the giveaway even if I joined the steam group. When I click to check the action it sais the same thing: Steam limited acounts not allowed. And it doesn’t make any sense. I think it is some kind of error because I already was in that group and then I left and joined again so I can complete it. :(((((((((

    2. I have friends who have spent a ton of money on their Steam accounts, but they’re still considered limited because they did this by buying physical Steam gift cards from stores and redeeming it on their accounts or by buying Steam keys outside of Steam. Steam doesn’t count that towards the $5 USD minimum to get rid of the “limited account” status. Even if someone gifts you a $5 gift card, this does not count towards your $5 minimum (it’ll count for their account though).

So the only way to fix this is by using a credit card or debit card on your Steam account directly (buying games from the official store, adding a balance to your account, or gifting $5 to a friend).

        1. If you made your account before limited accounts were introduced, you can do things like add friends and access the market. Unfortunately, you’d still be labelled “limited” if you haven’t spend $5 USD using a credit card or debit card directly on your Steam account.

        2. It could be the new Game Details settings: https://steamcommunity.com/games/593110/announcements/detail/1667896941884942467

This category includes the list of all games on your Steam account, games you’ve wishlisted, your achievements and your playtime. This setting also controls whether you’re seen as “in-game” and the title of the game you are playing.

Default value is “for friends” only. Try setting it to “Public” (for next time)
